School is in Session!

Today we visited one of the 6 Diocese schools in IPALAMWA with a very enthusiastic welcome. The just over 100 students welcomed us with a song and dance after a bumpy drive up the mountain.

This secondary school is one of the smallest in the district and is the school that our Kimala village students attend. This school has helped over 500 students graduate.

The teachers and students showed their gratitude for Newport’s support and our visit by gifting us with scarves after introducing themselves. We had fun seeing the 4 Kimala students who are supported with Scholarships from Newport

  • ELIYA NYAMOGA
  • SEFIANA KASUGA
  • NAHUMU MLIMAKIFI
  • LUPYANA MSUVA

Then we drove to the district hospital in ILULA which has been serving the Iringa district for over 85 years! There is an operating theatre, an ambulance for emergencies (funded with donations), and a new mom and baby building getting built.
